A note to readers...

Hi everyone!

If you’re here, you’re probably aware that I’ve decided to start a new site to share news and translations about C-ent. The main reason is that I saw readership for the original site skyrocketing over the past couple months. Starting in September 2020, monthly views were 100K and above. The site hit a peak of 145K views in December 2020; in the most recent month of April 2021, the site had 124K views. I really didn’t expect this at all, considering the fact that the site was averaging around 20K-30K for most of 2019 and 2020. I think that’s a testament to how much C-ent has grown in international spaces and how excited fans are to learn more about what’s going on in the Chinese side of the fandom and what discussions are occurring on Chinese platforms. All this to say, it’s super exciting and I could not be more pleased! I totally didn’t expect this at all when I first began posting in the summer of 2018.

With the influx of viewers, I really want to focus on creating a cleaner and better reader experience. I also think that if I have the time and energy (we’ll see hahaha), then I may want to start posting more articles about the industry in general, drama recommendations, music and artist recommendations, etc. I also realize that it can be difficult for readers to grok what’s going on in a lot of the translation-based posts (two things that come to mind are the Zheng Shuang surrogacy controversy from earlier in the year and the Yan Xujia cheating scandal). For incidents like those, in which updates are constantly happening and there’s a new development that needs to be shared, I might make compilation posts that are less focused on netizen reactions and more focused on the timeline of events. But like I said, we’ll see. Netizen comments are only one part of what’s going on within entertainment and fandom circles online, and while those comments will continue to be the focus of this blog, I might want to touch other elements just to be able to provide more context to readers. But who knows...maybe I’m being too ambitious and this blog will eventually just shift back to your regularly scheduled programming hahaha...

And finally, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who’s accompanied the former blog since August 2018 (how has it almost been 3 years!!). Thank you for sticking with the site for so long. And for those readers who have just discovered this blog, I want to say welcome as well! I’m so glad to see this growing interest in and appreciation for C-ent, and I hope it can stay this way for a long time to come.

Anyways, stay tuned for updates! Looking forward to continuing these C-ent updates!
